"The Renegade"
38"w x 38"h oil on canvas

"Perhaps the best known renegades are the Apache people who left the reservation system between 1879 and 1886 in hopes to revive and continue to live the traditional ways in northern Mexico and the Southwestern United States. During this period the renegades were successful at raiding and evading capture by the military. They were superior horsemen skilled at guerrilla warfare, practical in the use of items procured during these events, and utilitarian in their belief that their cause was for the greater good."
